This page is an outline of my professional experiences thus far.  I have applied my education through multiple internship and employment experiences.  In the future, I hope to advance my professional experience for continuing to make a difference in my community and increasing our understanding in science.  For further information, I can furnish a CV upon request.

Environmental Specialist (Local Hire)

April 2023- June 2023

​

Assisted in complying with environmental reviews and other environmental assessments for the declared winter 2022 disaster relief. Identified EHP resource considerations and determined the incident's effect on EHP resources beyond established agreements and protocols for streamlined review. Provided technical assistance on environmental considerations to the incident management organization and external stakeholders. Performed data gathering, analysis, and interagency coordination to prepare EHP compliance documents. Performed site inspections for determining damages and jurisdictions. Awarded certification in Natural Resources Wildlife Biologist and Natural Resources Ecologist EHP Cadre Specialties.

Biological Field Technician

March 2022- November 2022

​

Performed field surveys for hawks and eagles. Identified avian species using binoculars and spotting scope. Assisted with site characterization, including an overview of plants/animals and photographing landscape features prior to construction. Reported sensitive status species identified on-site. Navigated using paper and electronic maps. Used compass, GPS units, and other field equipment.

Summer Laboratory Technician

May 2018- September 2018

​

Developed protocol for more effectively understanding nutritional ecology of sturgeon. Ran nutrient extractions and analyses on aquatic invertebrate prey. Developed statistical analyses for nutrient composition comparisons and contributed to manuscript development. Homogenized and extracted lipids from shovelnose sturgeon. Participated in safety meetings and consistently complied with PPE requirements.

Biological Field Technician

March 2014- July 2014

[South Texas]

​

Conducted avian and bat mortality species surveys, fixed-point counts, carcass removal trials, and nesting bird surveys. Recorded presence of sensitive species on-site. Completed surveys in compliance with USFWS Aplomado Falcon survey protocol. Utilized hand-held GPS and wind-speed units.

Padre Island National Seashore

Biological Science Technician (Sea Turtles)

March 2013- July 2013

​​

​Conducted daytime surveys for nesting sea turtles utilizing UTVs and 4x4 vehicles.Documented and photographed stranded sea turtles. Applied metal and PIT tags on marine turtles. Independently collected tissue and other biological data from nesting and stranded sea turtles. Utilized proper PPE and participated in safety meetings. Provided orientation to volunteers and staff.  Performed minor vehicle repairs in the field.

Desert Tortoise Monitor

December 2012- January 2013

 

Monitored electrical transmission line construction activities. Coordinated with team members and enforced project requirements. Flagged and recorded GPS coordinates of tortoise burrows. Identified species on-site.

U.S. Forest Service- Rocky Mountain Research Station 

Biological Science Technician (Small Mammals)

June-August 2010

​Conducted live trapping of small mammals and collected habitat data in burned and unburned regions. Ear-tagged rodents and preserved mammal specimens for the Museum of Southwestern Biology.

California State University Monterey Bay Watershed Institute 

Watershed Restoration and Planting Assistant

September 2009-May 2010

​Led groups of volunteers in watershed restoration events.Instructed local aquatic ecology elementary school field trips.Assisted Green Thumbs planting program for developmentally disabled adult workers.Assisted in sowing seeds, transplanting, and facilities renovation.

Sequoia National Forest 

Biological Science Technician (Carnivores)

June-August 2009​

​

​Collected and identified carnivore tracks, including marten and fisher hair samples for genetic analysis. Installed field cameras at service stations to monitor carnivore activity. Utilized GPS units, fieldwork flagging, and orienteering skills.Utilized acetylene torch for applying soot layer to track plates.

U.S. Geological Survey- Western Ecological Research Center 

Resource Assistant

May-August 2008

Assisted with several research projects involving the physiology, nutrition, habitat use, and survey and monitoring techniques for desert tortoises in the Mojave Desert.

* Ft. Irwin Desert Tortoise Translocation Project:

Assisted with several on-going research projects involving the physiology, nutrition, habitat use, and survey and monitoring techniques for desert tortoises in the Mojave Desert. Tracked tortoises using radio telemetry and GPS technology. Assisted with blood sampling via subcarapacial venipuncture. Assisted in attachment and removal of tortoise radio transmitters.

* Nevada Burn Desert Tortoise Habitat Use Project:

Used radio telemetry to track tortoises in Coyote Springs, Halfway, and Piute Valley. Conducted tortoise sign surveys through burned regions.

​

 

* Joshua Tree Demography Project:

Established quarter hectare transects in Mojave National Preserve, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Grand Canyon National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, and Parashant National Monument. Utilized height poles, diameter tapes, measuring tapes, numbering tags, digital cameras, and GPS instruments.
